Biography
Suze is a research scientist specializing in global health and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). She earned her doctoral degree from Cornell University in the concentrations of international nutrition, epidemiology and biostatistics, and infectious disease immunology. There, she received the Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award. Previous roles managing clinical research brought her to study human leptospirosis in The Federated States of Micronesia, malnutrition and enteropathogens in India, and mosquito-borne viral infections in Ecuador. In recent years she has been working with the Center for International Health Research (CIHR) at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University where she studies schistosomiasis-related morbidities in children. Suze has received awards from the Thrasher Foundation and the National Institutes of Health to investigate relationships between micronutrient deficiencies and schistosomiasis immunopathology. Her recent published works examine anemia, stunting, and environmental enteric dysfunction (EED) in the context of schistosomiasis among children from The Philippines, Brazil, and Uganda. Suze is an adjunct professor with the Johnson & Wales University College for Health and Wellness, where she teaches Introduction to Global Health. Dr. Colt teaches BIOL 2025 Foundations in Statistics for Biology and Medicine.
